Daikin (ダイキン) was founded by Akira Yamada in Osaka, Japan, 1924. Since acquiring Goodman Global in 2011, they are the largest air conditioning manufacturer in the world. Daikin has lead the industry in refrigerant research and innovation. Working with Carrier, they co-developed the R-410A refrigerant. Daikin also invented variable refrigerant flow technology, which combined with an air conditioner inverter allow for major energy savings. Daikin entered the American market in 2004 then later in 2013 they opened their first American facility based in Houston, TX.
